After many years working for top design and advertising agencies I started Atwood Design Studio because I was ready to upend the “me-too-ness” that envelops us — the mountains of generic marketing and design. The work I now do in partnership with my clients aims to make a dent in the universe by thoughtfully and strategically breaking a few rules, for all the right reasons.

My clients and experience have spanned a wide range of industries and projects. For Westfield, the world’s largest retail property group, I helped reposition and revitalize over a dozen ultra-premium shopping centers. Disney tapped me to help them enter and disrupt the $160 billion wedding business with the Disney promise of quality, sans the “mouse”. Dominican University of California brought me in to revamp their branding to stand out in an increasingly competitive private education marketplace. Napa County California hired me to create their first comprehensive design guidelines including redesigning the official County Seal. In Las Vegas, I worked with the Venetian Resort and Casino to create their overall property positioning, including the advertising and marketing efforts for the Guggenheim and Hermitage Museums located within. In the technology sector, I spearheaded the global design and branding efforts for the “Intel Inside” processor marketing program, now the textbook case study for ingredient branding.

All these programs have this in common: what I produced broke through the clutter, dramatically increased awareness, market share and revenue. I have worked with a who’s who of industries and brands including The American Heart Association, The George Lucas Educational Foundation, Pepsico, Cisco Systems, Intel, Kraft Foods, Kia Motors, Sempra Energy, The Clorox Companies, The Venetian Resort and Casino, Versace, Pandora.com and dozens of others.

I’ve taught advanced design and advertising classes at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco, and although I now live in Los Angeles, I work with clients all across the country.
